Semarang, September 28, 2024—The Occupational Safety and Health Study Program of the Faculty of Public Health at Diponegoro University held a Safety Riding workshop themed “Aman dan Selamat dalam Berkendara.” This event, in collaboration with Astra, Jasa Raharja, and the Central Java Police, aimed to raise students’ awareness about the importance of safety while riding.
Nearly two hundred participants attended the workshop, which took place from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Participants received training on safe riding techniques, an introduction to traffic regulations, and tips for handling emergencies on the road.
The first session was delivered by Ms. Aipda Wien Erlina Asih, SH, from the Traffic Education Division of the Central Java Police, covering the Traffic Law Guidelines. This was followed by Mr. Oke Setiyanto, ST, representing Astra, who presented the correct riding techniques to reduce the risk of accidents. The final session was conducted by Mr. Bagus Tri Maistiyanto, ST., AAAI-K, AWP, QWP, Head of Services at PT Jasa Raharja Central Java, discussing Insurance Protection and Coverage.
Prof. Dr. Yuliani Setyaningsih, SKM., M.Kes, Chair of the Occupational Safety and Health Study Program, explained that this training is part of the university’s efforts to support the vision of creating a generation that is aware of the importance of safety for themselves and others while riding. The Dean of Public Health Faculty, Dr. Budiyono, SKM., M.Kes, welcomed this Safety Riding initiative and expressed hope for its continuation in the future. He also encouraged students to become role models for the community in safe and secure riding practices.
The event concluded with a safe riding simulation guided by professional instructors from Astra and the distribution of certificates to participants who completed the entire program. The hope is that this training will instill a culture of safety riding among the youth and contribute to reducing traffic accident rates in Central Java and surrounding areas.
